High-speed end-forming

Our method of flow forming / high-speed end-forming essentially is a modified form of metal spinning. The main difference is, that instead of a single roller, which is spinning a given form, GFU is using a calotte forming die, which is shaping the complete outer form of the work piece. This forming technology can be used for rotationally symmetrical parts only.

Advantages of high-speed end-forming technology

  • Reducing of single components: A main advantage of the GFU developed and patented high-speed end-forming technology is, that you can form nearly each rotationally symetrical bottom shape without any additional material infeed. Part of this also is the gas-tight closing of tubes without additional material infeed resp. without usage of any additional component. This reduces your stockage cost dramatically. 
  • Cycle times: The cycle times can be reduced up to 50% verses conventional methods. Using GFU high-speed end-forming technologies combined with a handling system customized for your applications, you can reach enormous increase in productivity.
  • Tolerances: Despite of hot treatment we are reaching very tight tolerances, on some parts lenght tolerances with only +/- 0,1 mm. Depending on the kind of product, diameter tolerances below +/- 0,1 mm can be reached.
